British Military Collections

Ceremonial sword refurbishment, engraving, leatherwork, bespoke displays and swords

For over 40 years, British Military Collections has produced and refurbished swords and provided specialist services to the military and industry. From parade-quality refurbishments to personalised engraving, leatherwork and handcrafted display cases, we help serving personnel, veterans, collectors and regimental organisations present swords with pride.

A sword is more than an item to own. It represents service, tradition and achievement. Whether you are preparing for a parade, restoring a family piece, or creating a presentation for a mess or unit, you can expect practical, respectful workmanship and a strong focus on detail. We work with a wide range of British military sword patterns and accessories, and can advise if you are unsure what you need.

The Britannia Museum has worked with Richard Giddings for over 20 years. He has always provided a quality service and quality products which have helped sustain the Museum. The ‘Four Admirals’ project, drawing inspiration from the names on the front of the main building of Britannia Royal Naval College, is the latest such venture.

I first met Richard Gidding in 1987 when I was General Manager of Wilkinson Sword’s sword division in Acton, London. He soon became Wilkinson’s supplier of sword accoutrements, such as sword knots and belts. He was a very reliable supplier and was very successful at finding sources for the manufacture of special items such as Partizan Tassels. Since leaving Wilkinson Sword, I am still involved with swords and Richard has now become my source for sword refurbishments, excellent leather work and superb wooden sword display stands. During my long association with him, I have always found Richard to be an honest and reliable person who will always do his best to help me solve any problems that arise.
